Winter is slowly going away. The snow and the cold are souvenirs as it is getting warmer out there. Time to ditch the big coats, scarfs and fluffy jumpers for some lighter pieces. Yet, what to wear as the new season starts? Few of your winter pieces will stay in your wardrobe. You still need some spring wardrobe essentials and we’re here to help you!
Our spring wardrobe essentials
#1 A white tee-shirt
We think a white tee-shirt is a classic that everybody should have in their wardrobe, no matter the season. It goes with everything and is really easy to style. Worn with the right accessories, a white tee can really be upgraded and elegant. Cotton and silk are perfect when temperatures are going up. We’d recommend to go for a tee that is a bit loose so that you feel comfortable and free to move. H&M is the perfect place to shop for basics.
#2 A denim jacket
We don’t have a denim jacket yet but Corinne is planning on getting one. We think it can give a badass touch to any outfit. Like turning a white dress in an not so innocent girly style. The great thing with denim jacket is that you can style them with many other pieces. It is even okay to wear a pair of jeans and a jacket altogether now. Add some pins to give it more color. Although Levi’s is a classic when it comes to denim, Gap and Primark offer more affordable alternatives.
#3 A skater dress
Corinne loves skater dresses. They are super comfortable, flattering and fitting. They comes in so many colors, shapes and styles. Even the most basic and simple dress can have a great effect when styled with the right accessories. Sneakers or wedges, few jewellery and a denim jacket will look great with it. Basically, how you accessorize it can make it a completely different outfit.
#4 Fashion sneakers
Sneakers are a go-to and literally go with everything: dresses, skirts, shorts, trousers, etc. Avoid wearing white sneakers when it’s raining though. They come in so many different colors that it is hard to choose but brights colors are perfect for spring. They are also super comfortable and so appropriate when you get back on your bike as the weather finally allows it. Adidas Superstars and Stan Smith are classics but you can find more affordable and different styles in pretty much every clothes stores nowadays.
#5 A classic trench
It’s not because spring is finally here that rain will magically stop pouring down and temperatures will suddenly go up. Spring can remain chilly for a little while. A trench won’t be too warm but will still protect you against the cold, rain and wind. Furthermore, it is a classic and a really elegant piece to have in your wardrobe. We all know how amazing Burberry’s trench can look. They are also quite expensive so for now, checking out H&M or Zara will do as well!
#6 A pair of wedge sandales
Wearing sandals immediately makes us feel like it is holiday. We love having our toes in the air and in the sun. High heels can be quite hard to master so wedges are the perfect alternative. They come in so many materials, fabrics, colors and style that there really is something to satisfy all tastes. They can also be worn with a lot of different clothes so get one pair and you’re good for the season. We also think they are really flattering and make one’s legs look great.
#7 A tote bag
There is no requirement of size. However, the bigger the better since you can stuff in more of your things. Also, it is spring so forget dark and neutral colors such as beige, black or navy and go for something brighter. Green, orange or yellow will add some color to an outfit. If you’re bold, you can go for some edgy print. We love when there is a strap to wear it cross-body or on the shoulder.
#8 A pair of boyfriend jeans
Boyfriend jeans are really comfortable and are perfect for a casual look. It is not much work and it gives a relax and lay down effect. It is not a hard piece to style and can be worn with flats, sneakers or heels equally. Lately, the trend has been to cropped boyfriend jeans but regular ones will do too. Just topstitch the end and it will look amazing. Boyfriend jeans are the new slim jeans and an essential this spring.
#9 A lacy dress
Lace is really delicate and beautiful. We think it is quite elegant and romantic. Yet again, lacy dresses are easy to style. Grungy with a biker jacket or classy with a blazer. They are appropriate for a date, work, a night out or just a normal day. They pretty much are a basic and must have for your wardrobe. There is not much more to see here.
#10 A pair of neon sunglasses
A spring has sprung, the sun has made a big come back. We don’t know if this statement applies to Scotland where Corinne was living until recently, but here in Manchester, there has been a bright and shining sun for few days in a row. The perfect occasion to wear sunglasses and bike through the city. Forget the boring black sunglasses and get yourself some more colorful onces! Just make a statement.
