5 Book Series You May Not Know About

5 Book Series You May Not Know About

When I was a teenager, I was an avid reader. All my pocket money was going into books. I was reading so fast and I always wanted more. From French classics to Sci-fi, romance or fantasy, I was reading everything. I was always looking at reading new books and at finding amazing book series that would be different from Twilight, Harry Potter and the likes. As I have found some, I will share them today with you. All grown up but still addicted.

Blue Bloods – Melissa De La Cruz
I started this series when I was in high school and finished it at university. One book per year. Blue Bloods is a story about vampires who used to be angels. They have been banished from Heaven by God because they rebelled and joined Lucifer in his vendetta against humanity. Really biblical. But fascinating. Blue Bloods mixes biblical mythology, sci-fi creatures and Gossip Girl. Really. This combination makes the series so good! And all the suspense! The plot is amazingly lead. You get information little by little which really makes you want to always get more. I absolutely love this series and have re-read it many times.

Ewilan – Pierre Bottero
Pierre Bottero is a French author who wrote many book series focusing on different characters and narrative arcs but that are all related. Either because the characters know each other, they end up meeting in another world or just because their story might be related. Ewilan – also the name of the heroine – is made of two series of three books each. The story starts on Earth and finishes in another dimension in a country called Gwendalavir where a certain kind of magic operates. This magic is actually called Drawing. Designers are individuals who can draw by accessing a dimension of their mind called Imagination where they can visualize things and transfer them into reality. The idea is just brilliant and the entire novel is super poetic. It is also feminist, not black and white, beautiful and has a really big diversity of characters.

Succubus Blues – Rachelle Mead
Succubus Blues is the first close-to-erotic novel I ever read. And I was in high school. It is targeted at young adults. Actually, it is not really a erotic novel because the story does not really focus on that. Although the main character set it for you: she is a Succubus, a creature of Hell, who feeds on others’ sexual energy, which she drains having sex with them. Here you are. Even though this is really important for the story, it is not the focus of the plot. Her story is much more than that and it is really interesting to see how she changed and what she is going through while getting her life back together. The story is about love, forgiveness and redemption and the suspense is just amazing. A must-read then.

Wit’ch Fire – James Clemens
This name may sound familiar to you. I think this author is quite famous and so may be his series. There are five books telling the story of a young girl who ends up being the most powerful Wit’ch ever born since the very first Wit’ch. However, she lives in a society where man are praised for having magic and women are killed if they possess the same skills. How familiar does this sound… They also live in a world where magic has been corrupt by a tyran who will kill anyone standing up to him. Again, nothing is white and black here. Good guys become bad guys and bad guys become good. All the characters are really different. They may start as ennemies and end up as allies or they path may just cross. I have absolutely loved reading this series.

The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles – Katherine Pancol
Another French author but who is worldwide famous. She does not write sci-fi or vampire stories. She writes life stories. The plot takes place in Paris but also a bit in London and New York as the characters grow and move on with their lives. I think I loved this series so much because the characters are so relatable. Good and bad things happen. One day everything is amazing and the day after, everything is crumbling. Or the other way round. A character may finally realize that the only way to get their life back together is to change themselves. They are all so strong but annoying at the same time, obnoxious but endearing, bold and tough but they make mistake and can be odious. They are just human.

I don’t know if you already knew any of these series. I have few doubts regarding the French novels but if you can find the books translated (or can read French), I would highly recommend you to read them because they are just so good!

What are your favorite books? Have you read any of these? Would you recommend them? Any recommendation for us?

Thank you for reading, I hope you liked this post.

See you soon,
Love,
Corinne

You’re right, I haven’t heard of them, to be honest! I used to read all the time, but haven’t picked up a book for years! I’m going to take a couple of books with me on holiday this year, though.

I’m a lover of books, but I must admit, I’ve never heard of any of these titles. My french is very basic despite trying to learn it for seven years in school, but they sound so interesting! I’m going to keep an eye out for the Wit’ch series and see if I can find it secondhand anywhere (I own way too much money to buy them all–especially series, haha!) because it sounds so interesting. Thanks for these recommendations!

I have never heard of any of these! I don’t read as much as I should, honestly, but I recently found myself intrigued by self-motivational books! Recently read Big magic by elizabeth gilbert and absolutely loved it!

I love reading and love discovering new book series! I would suggest the imperium book series by Robert Harris because it is AMAZINGly written in the style of a fiction about the life of Cicero!

I’ve never heard of any of these! Wit’ch Fire sounds awesome though, it’ll definitely be going on TBR. I’m in the middle of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy, I’ve only got the last one left to read but I need a break first as they’re so heavy going!

I might have to add some of these to my ever growing reading list.
The Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead are amazing. But my absolute favourite series is the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novels.

You’re absolutely right, I haven’t heard of any of these series, so thank you for the suggestions! The Katherine Pancol series sounds fantastic though, I love flawed and relatable characters, they make a story so much more interesting! The feminist element of Ewilan sounds fab too, definitely another series I need to get into!
