Since I’m finishing university on August 31st and graduating in November, I have already started to look for a job. I won’t tell you about all the phone interviews, online tests and assessment days. If you’re a graduate, you already know. If you’re not, I don’t want to scare you. The thing is… I never know what to wear when I have a face-to-face interview. “Business Casual” or “Smart Casual” are often mentioned but what does that even mean?
I am really wondering, and maybe you are too. Especially if you’re sending job applications right now. To provide you with an answer and also some inspiration for your next job interview, I’ve decided to create this little guide to get the perfect business look! This selection may also prove useful when you get the job. You want to make your first appearance at the office in the most stylish dress!
Our Guide to the Perfect Business Casual Dress
Neutral & Classic
I have done a few summer jobs in a corporate environment. What I saw was suits, ties, pencil dresses and midi skirts. I always thought that suits were really elegant. I also think that midi dresses or skirt make you feel taller (and a bit thinner). Dark colors such as black, grey or navy are timeless. Those colors can be worn for any occasion and are really chic. Nude, beige and white are fresher. They probably are more appropriate for summer. Yet, I just can’t stop loving them. Any Suits fan here? The actresses outfits are just stunning and so elegant. Yet so simple. Classics are always right! I think my favorite dress here is the nude mini wiggle dress.

Prints & Bold
I just said that classics were always right and so elegant, but they can also be boring. It all depends on your personal taste and also on your work environment, I guess. Yet, getting bolder in what you wear in the office does not mean it is inappropriate. I mean, it is not like I was advising you to go to the office in your bikini. I would not go that far. No, I think that from time to time, it is quite nice to change a bit. Prints, stripes or geometric forms do look great on a dress. It is original, beautiful and won’t be left unnoticed. I love the pink, black and white graphic dress. I think it is gorgeous and would go so well with black stilettos and a blazer jacket.

Colorful & Catchy
Bright color dresses are in the selection for the exact same reason as prints. Classics are great but they may sometime be a little dull. We don’t always have to stick to them. Bright colors make us remember of summer and warm weather. Bright colors are warm, joyful, welcoming. It sure can have some positive impact on people’s mood. They may be a bit tricky to style though. A black dress goes with everything, from shoes to bags and jewellery. You must be more careful when styling a bright yellow dress. No green stilettos if you see what I mean. But it does not mean you won’t look great! And if you just went on a holiday, you have a great tan that would look perfect with the dress! I love the cobalt blue midi dress. So gorgeous!
