Kirsty’s Hair Routine With Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Range

Kirsty’s Hair Routine With Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Range

As you know nice looking hair, brings happiness… But when you have long hair, it can be hard to take care of you it, and make it look on point everyday. Same if you like to style it everyday with blowdryers, straighteners and other accessories that can damage your hair. Lucky for us, Palmer’s has created the perfect range for us to be able to look after our hair properly and above all, easily! The new Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula range. So read more to find out why this range is oh so amazing!

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Products

I was lucky to be sent a few of Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula products last month. This ranges has been created based on coconut oil’s amazing properties, in order to take care of our hair the best way possible, and is composed of 12 different products in total.

This range aims to keep our hair in good condition, keep it healthy & shiny. Initially these products are made for people with curly hair, that can quickly become dry and dull. My hair is thin and straight (well sometimes wavy, but nut curly), so you might think something isn’t right here. Well after trying all the products twice a week for a month I can definitely tell you that this range is amazing, and suitable for anyone that want’s to whip their hair back into shape.

I’ve also been wanting to share my hair routine with you for a while, as I think that my hair is quite healthy (even if it’s very long) and that I have a few great tips to share with you. So reviewing these Palmer’s products is the best moment to do so right? Let’s get cracking then!

When to wash your hair

You may already know this, but it isn’t good to wash your hair too often. If you have dry hair it can make it even dryer, and if you have greasy hair, greasyer. It’s a vicious cercle. I used to wash my hair every other day, but since knowing this I’ve tried to cut it down as much as I could. Now I only wash my hair twice a week, I can sometimes manage to only wash it once depending on what I’ve done during the week, and I think that it has helped my hair stay healthy.

If you would like to stop washing your hair too often, I recommend using dry shampoo to transition. Then you will see that your hair will naturally need to be washed less often.

How to wash your hair

The way you wash your hair is probably just fine the way it is (unless you only use water…), but there is a better way you can use your shampoo. This is by washing your hair twice. Indeed, the first shampoo will wash your hair, getting rid of the dirt, and the second one will allow your hair to profit from the benefits of your shampoo. My advice is to use a basic shampoo for the first one, and a more specific shampoo for the second one. I use a VO5 shampoo as my first shampoo, then useΒ Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo. This way my hair gets all the benefits from the conditioning shampoo.

Be careful though: this tip is aimed at people that wash their hair twice (or less) a week. If you wash your hair everyday or every two days it won’t do anything good for your hair.

How to use conditionner

Now this tip is maybe the best tip a hairdresser has ever giving me! Probably like you, I used to wash my hair and then cover my hair in conditionner before putting my hair up for a few minutes for it to work its magic. Thinking that my hair would be publicity worthy once dry. Well I was wrong…

After washing your hair you should dry your hair with a towel. Your hair should still be a little damp, but not soaking wet. Then, and then only you can apply your conditionner. Semi-dry hair absorbs conditionner better than wet hair. Since doing this I feel like the ends of my hair are less dry, and that the conditioner I use actually brings results.

How to dry your hair

There are many ways to dry our hair, we all have our “favourite” way of doing it. However, there are some things to avoid.

First of all, avoid going to bed with wet hair. Your hair being “trapped” between your head (which produces heat) and your pillow will get hot. This won’t only dry your hair, it will also make your scalp produce more sebum. In other words it will produce grease, which like you have guessed will make your hair greasy quicker.

If you like drying your hair with a hairdryer, try and use the cold option, or at least the lowest you can. If your hair is quite dry, it is also good to add a second conditionner like (more about this bellow). When drying your hair, avoid touching your hair with your fingers. This will also make your scalp produce sebum. Instead use a comb or a styling brush.

I prefer to leave my hair dry naturally. For this I just comb my hair after coming out of the shower, then I towel it dry as much as I can. Then I comb it again and leave it. To make sure I don’t go to bed with wet hair I wash it early: when I get home from work, or before dinner.

Leave-in conditionner & hair sprays

I never used to use leave-in conditioners as I thought they would make my hair greasy. But since I’ve tried Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Hair Milk Smoothie, I can’t stop using it. It’s quite a light formula, which doesn’t feel heavy nor sticky. I only use it on the tips of my hair every other week, or my hair is looking a little dull.

Like the conditioners you have to rinse, I like to add leave-in conditioners once my hair is well toweled-dry. Sometimes I even wait a little longer, I will towel dry it once, then do everything I need to to, and once I’m dressed/in my PJ’s and the bathroom is sorted put the conditioner in. I like to simply massage it in my hair with my fingers, and then comb it again to spread the conditionner a little bit more.

palmers-coconut-oil-1

Overall, I really love these products. I also got there Repairing Conditioner with Vitamin E, which I absolutely love (it smells like the French cake Baba au Rhum, which makes me so hungry everytime).

What I especially like with this range is that you only need a little bit of product, and see results after the first time using them. I also like the fact that the formula is clean. These products are sulfate, paragon, phthalate, mineral oil, gluten and dye free. Which is always good! And as well as containing no nasties, they are enriched with great ingredients like monoΓ― oil, argan oil and sea kelp which hydrate, enhance gloss & shine and help promote growth.

Do you have a specific hair routine? Did you know about these products?

I wash my hair everyday and I know that this is bad and I really want to stop that. My hair is thin and will get greasy often and I want to train it out of that if you know what I mean. I barely condition it either though but it is really soft. I don’t know how that works. This seems like a really great brand to work with and test out.

I actually hate H&S since I know they apparently test on animals ^^ but not having a routine is fine if you don’t have any problems with your hair lol x

Short hair is easy to maintain as compared to a long hair. My wife has grown hair to a neck level. It’s trouble free to keep it up and it’s too economical to use shampoo, conditioner and the like. And this product which you’re recommending could meet her needs

    • September 5, 2017 / 1:42 pm

They are definitely economical! A little bit goes a long way πŸ™‚ x

  9. August 14, 2017 / 10:41 am

  10. August 14, 2017 / 11:49 am

Here in our country, coconut is plentiful and inexpensive. Because of this, we would rather prepare our own coconut oil for the purpose of doing hot oil treatment for our hair.

    • September 5, 2017 / 1:43 pm

You’re lucky πŸ™‚ it’s cheaper and easier to buy coconut oil or products that contain it here… x

  11. August 14, 2017 / 4:15 pm

Palmers is such a great brand! I swear by so many of their products πŸ’–πŸ΅

  12. August 14, 2017 / 4:21 pm

Coconut oil was such a game changer for my hair. I’d love to explore some coconut oil hair products too. I appreciate all the hair care advice. I’d never head that you should partially dry your hair before conditioning it? Interesting. I wish I could let my hair dry naturally, but it’s a matted, frizzy, disgusting, mess if I do. Sigh. I’ve learned I have to blow dry with heat for my hair to look decent, and this is after over 5 years of trying different methods. Maybe I just need more coconut oil πŸ˜‰

  45. August 16, 2017 / 3:57 pm

I wash my hair whenever it starts to feel itchy! You should still wash your hair regularly. If you don’t, the pores get blocked and that causes hair loss! Think about all the stuff that’s in the air and lands on our skin, face, hair! As long as you use natural shampoos and products, it shouldn’t be an issue!

    • September 5, 2017 / 2:04 pm

But the less you wash it, the less you need to wash it. Washing it more than twice a week isn’t recommended, our body knows what it has to do, so if listen to it it’s fine. x

I love Palmer’s products and I have really curly hair so these sound perfect for me. Thanks for some great tips too. I always apply my conditioner onto to soaking wet hair but what you’ve said makes total sense so will be drying it with a towel first from now on xx
