A Holiday in Normandy

A Holiday in Normandy

We all deserve a holiday from time to time, right? Of course, we do! Thus, I went to Normandy for few days. My boyfriend also came with me. As I was working from home for two days, I stayed a little longer in Normandy, enjoying the sun and the swimming pool at my parents’ house!

So, what did we do?

We didn’t really have any plan on where we wanted to go. Indeed, it was all very spontaneous. The best way to do in my opinion. On the first day, we decided to go to Honfleur, a city on the Northern coast of Normandy. It’s where the river Seine goes into the Channel. It is not a big city but a lovely one with the cutest old harbor, square shaped, surrounded by lot of restaurant. We made it to Honfleur just in time for lunch and sat down for an amazing meal: garlic cream mussels and fries. DE-LI-CIOUS! We had a stroll through town before driving back to my parents’ and enjoy the swimming pool in the garden as the temperature was approaching 30°C.

Honfleur’s harbor

We spent the second day at the beach, in a coastal village named Viller-sur-Mer. We actually just stayed few hours. The water was incredibly cold, yet refreshing. We slept and read on the beach before heading back home to, again, make use of the swimming pool until late in the evening. Monday was the laziest day as we stayed home and just chilled by the pool: swimming, reading, eating, and repeat. Just so good!

We went to Rouen on Tuesday and had a stroll through old town. I already knew Rouen as I had been shopping many times there. I thought I knew old town but actually no. It was way bigger than what I remembered. After some avocado on toasts at a lovely restaurant, we drove back home. 34°C was just calling for a swim! My boyfriend left on Wednesday while I stayed and worked from home for two days!

For those who don’t know, Kirsty, the other half of Corinne & Kirsty, lives in Normandy. Just 25 minutes drive away from my parents’ house! So me being there over the weekend was just the perfect opportunity for a little blogging gathering! Cooking and food styling, taking pictures for the blog, outfits, working and chilling. Turns out my parents’ village has a lot of little streets with lovely houses that make perfect backdrops for Instagram and blog pictures! We made the most of it.

Port-Mort with Kirsty

I am so glad I took this holiday! It was just so nice and relaxing! I live in the United Kingdom and my parents live in France. Thus, when I come over, it really feels like a proper vacation as it is a complete change of environment. It was also great to live Manchester’s gloomy weather and enjoy the sun for some days. We have been lucky. According to my parents, it had been raining all summer and the week we came, sun and high temperatures were back! I had such a great time!

I am back in Manchester now. September is going to be such an exciting and busy month. I was in Paris on Monday and Tuesday for a photoshoot, Kirsty is coming over the the 15th for the Northern Blog Award as we’ve been shortlisted and last but not least, I am going on a holiday in Gran Canaria on the 30th! So exciting!

What about you? Have you been on holiday this summer? Where? Have you already visited Normandy? What does September have in store for you?

Thanks for reading.

I’ve never visited Normandy before although the pictures do remind me Brussels. I spent over a month in my homeland (Morocco) and loved it, I wish I could live there haha. September is going to be filled with studying and university applications…great!

You looked like you had such a good time there! I went to Normandy on a school trip in Year 7, and this makes me feel so nostalgic and makes me want to go back so badly.

I think the last time I was in Normandy was when I was a wee little lady, but to be honest, I don’t even really remember – which means, I MUST GO BACK!

How lovely to take a holiday and spend some time together! And it’s so lucky there was a pool there — 34 degrees is so much warmer than I can handle these days! Swimming is the only way to deal when it’s that hot. Looks like you had a blast!

Got to love a spontaneous trip! It’s sometimes nice not to have a plan and just see where your whim takes you! Moules frites sound like an excellent choice to me! Bet you’re so excited for Gran Canaria too, I loved my family hols there!

It has been a while since we have been on a nice vacation. We are long over do. But if I had the opportunity, I think that I would have a hard time deciding where to go.

It sounds like you had a great time. Relaxing is a must from time to time without a set schedule is always nice.

  37. September 11, 2017 / 9:23 am

Sounds like a great trip! I have never actually been to Normandy even though it’s so close to the UK – you’ve inspired me to go. I don’t blame you for wanting to get away from the Manchester weather either – I have just left Manchester and used to struggle with the grey skies and gloominess!

  38. September 11, 2017 / 9:44 am

It looks so pretty, glad you had a lovely time. I love your inflatable donut! So cool! Enjoy Gran Canaria, I love holidaying there.

That’s something I really love about Europe. It’s so easy to visit a new place relatively easily and get to experience different culture, foods and sights.
