Miranda Priesley was mocking flowers for not being groundbreaking for spring. What about gingham then? Groundbreaking enough? I cannot name one brand that hasn’t jumped on the trend or one blogger who hasn’t been wearing it. We’ve seen it everywhere on the runways. It has been major this spring and will still be during summer. At least, I hope. Because it’s a trend I really like. Although I had never paid much attention to it until really recently.
I always had some doubts about the print though. It looks quite preppy. Maybe too much? I am not Alexa Chung and I don’t have a preppy style. So how do I style it? Because it kinda looks super nice. A fresher alternative to floral. Also, as classic as polka dots and stripes. Definitely something to adopt and keep then. I guess, you can just mix it with another massive trend of spring summer 2017: the bardot trend.
Off the shoulder bardot trend are just so in this season too. And because you don’t want to look like a catalog, you can hit two birds with one stone: a gingham bardot top. And to stand out from the crowd, forget the black and white gingham and go for the pink and white with this adorable (and super cheap) top from boohoo.
Just finish the look with a pair of trousers (or shorts, depends what you like best) and the ultimate classic: a denim jacket. If you’re looking for one, do not worry, we thought about it. Just have look at our denim jacket edit. No outfit would be complete without the proper shoes. I bought these graphic wedges in 2013 and I have been wearing them since then. I hope they never break.
I am never fussed with accessories but I always enjoy a good watch. Although, being left handed, it always makes it harder for me. Daniel Wellington sent me the watch by the way. Get 15% off on their website with discount code DWKIRSTY15. Hope you love the outfit.
So what do you think of this outfit? And about the gingham trend? Or all these bardot tops and dresses we see everywhere? What is your go-to piece of the summer?
I hope you liked this post.
