As said in a previous post, we often eat out when we are together, so it’s no surprise we are back with another restaurant review (and there is more coming too…). We we were out all day shopping and it was of those days when we were craving a special type of food, this day it was Italian. After finding out that the first restaurant we wanted to go to was shut, we headed to Jamie’s Italian as Corinne had never been (yes, I know).
Jamie’s Italian Lunch Menue
Jamie’s Italian is in my opinion a good restaurant. The dishes are always good, menues change often and the venues are always beautiful. Somehow I consider this restaurant more on the pricy side, it’s not expensive, but for a student or a young professional on a budget it a little bit more expensive than the usual restaurants we go to.
However, we discovered that they now do a lunch and dinner set menue. For only £12.95 you get a starter and a main course, you can also add £3 for desert (if I remember correctly). You get to choose between a selection of 5 or 6 starters and 5 or 6 mains. So this is what we went for.
Crispy Fish & Mixed Grains Salad
Corinne went for spicy crispy fish with a creamy avocado dip for starters. Which was apparently yummy.
I went for a salad of mixed grains with glazed baby carrots, pomegranate, feta & mint. The dish was supposed to be the main, however I didn’t want to finish my meal with a cold salad as it was cold outside and I wanted to finish my lunch with something warm and with pasta (please don’t judge 😀). So I asked if it was possible to swap both dishes. At first I thought they would simply bring the dishes in a different order, but they actually made the salad a starter (smaller) and the pasta a main (bigger). Which is great! It’s good to know you can swap things over if you want at no extra cost.
The salad was really good, it would have been great as a main on a hot day. I wasn’t too sure about the pomegranate at first but it really went well with the dish.
Creamy Salmon & Truffle Pasta
Corinne chose another fish based dish and went for a salmon in a creamy sauce with pasta.
I went for my all-time favourite and chose the truffle linguine. I’m a huge truffle lover (whether it’s the chocolates or the mushroom). You just can’t beat the stuff. The dish was amazing. At first I was expecting less truffle, but wow look at that topping! I was in heaven haha
When we walked in the restaurant I didn’t know they had a lunch menue, so we were pleasantly surprised, and I think we can’t argue on the fact that 2 fish dishes and a salad + a truffle dish for only £12.95 is a very good price…
