Brand Focus: Mr Lee’s Noodles

Brand Focus: Mr Lee’s Noodles

As they say “When in doubt, eat pot noodles”, well there is no doubt that I love pot noodles! Whether it’s rice noodles or you typical Chinese noodles! So when Mr Lee’s Noodles tweeted that they were looking for bloggers to review their products I jumped on the occasion. Now follow me and keep on reading to know why I was so excited by these noodles…

Mr Lee’s Gourmet Oriental

Noodles in a Cup

As a newly former student I have a really good relationship with pot noodles.. They were (and still are to be honest) my go to meal when I can’t be bothered to cook, don’t really fancy anything that’s in my fridge or have 10 minutes tops to have lunch. If a used to just eat them as they came, with time I have developed yummy recipes around asian noodles (welcome to real adulthood…). When I saw a review of Mr Lee’s Noodles on a blog I was really intrigued and wanted to give them a go. Now let me tell you why!

Quality noodles at a fair price

What make these noodles interesting and delicious is the fact that Mr Lee is a quality focused brand. Like most of you (probably) I didn’t really now anything about dehydrated foods or frozen foods. Just that basically frozen vegetables can sometimes be better than “fresh” vegetables. That’s about it.

However, these cups contain what we call “freeze-dried” ingredients. Basically ingredients are not exposed to high temperatures in order to be dehydrated, but placed in a refrigerated vacuum where ice disappears in the form of escaping water vapor (thank you google). Now if like me this doesn’t mean much to you, it actually is better. The ingredients do not lose their nutritional values, the taste stays the same, and products can be kept longer. It’s a win-win process.

And if that wasn’t enough these cups do not contain any nasty E numbers, preservatives or anything. They are also low in fat, sugar, salt and calories. What else could we ask for?

Top notch packaging

If the food is the most important part, I also loved to packaging and the brand’s voice! The design of the cups is really modern and is full of humor. Each cup has an asian quote which I think is nice. So at least you don’t get bored when waiting for your water to boil!

The cups also come with a pair of chopsticks and a bag for you to carry your cups easily. Perfect if you want to bring them to work :). The chopsticks also have the “A man with one chopstick goes hungry” on them.. (love that quote!)

My opinion on Mr Lee’s Noodles

Even if I had read a good review about these noodles I wasn’t getting my hopes up. I’m like St Thomas on that one: only believe what I see… So I was really pleased to find out that these noodles met the review I read.

Shaolin Monk Vegetables

You can see that the vegetables have nice colours and don’t look grim. The flavors are also great. Me and my parents have only tried the Hong Kong Street Beef medium hot cup and Shaolin Monk Vegetable cup (non spicy) for the moment, just to test the water. And boy we are wondering how hot the “very hot” cup will be! But as we like spicy food we know we will still enjoy it.

As you can see we shared 2 cups between the 3 of us and that was enough to fill us up. Each cup contains enough for 2 portions (if you are not a big eater). So at a retail price of £2.99 (or £17.94 for a pack of 6) you’ve got your money’s worth.

Did I also mention that they are gluten free? And that some are suitable for vegetarians?

Did you know about this brand? Do you like rice noodles?

See you soon, love

These look incredible for noodles in a cup! If you’d just shown the ‘after’ photos of the noodles in a bowl, I’d never have guessed that they came in a pot! The vegetables look like they have some nutritional value, and the fact that these pots are low in salt too is a great plus! I NEED to buy these!

You can really taste the difference for the salt! I’d never really noticed before but while eating those I didn’t have that after salty taste! So perfect for people that don’t like salt 😀 x

  9. March 19, 2017 / 8:35 pm

Oooh those noodles look delicious! I’m a huge fan of pot noodles, and they remind me of when I go on holiday as I used to eat them a lot whilst travelling (because sometimes it can be a nightmare when you land really late at night and all of the shops are closed).

    • March 19, 2017 / 9:12 pm

Never thought of putting some in my bag while travelling! This is such a good idea 😀 x

How did I miss this opportunity I live on noodles half the time (gotta love being a student) and these look so yummy and tasty…unlike some instant noodles you can get and aren’t a disturbing bright yellow colour.

  23. March 20, 2017 / 5:17 pm

” Just that basically frozen vegetables can sometimes be better than “fresh” vegetables. ”
First time I’ve ever heard about this! Also, I love how vibrant the vegetables are, usually whenever I get soup the colors aren’t as bright and are almost there for show that yes yes indeed there are vegetables in this soup.

Hmm perhaps I should try Mr. Lee’s Noodles – who knows I may actually learn how to use chopsticks while I’m at it!

    • March 20, 2017 / 9:41 pm

It just depends on how long your vegetables have been sitting around in your supermarket or your fridge/cupboard 🙂 as frozen vegetables are frozen straight after being picked they stay “young” so “fresh” longer 🙂 x

  24. March 20, 2017 / 5:17 pm

These actually look seriously good and I got hungrier and hungrier reading this post! I’ll be honest, I’ve never tried a pot noodle, they look fake and don’t appeal to me but these noodles look like noodles you’d get at a restaurant! I’ll have to go try some!

Hi, I love rice noodles. I’ve yet to try these. I like the idea that there are none of those nasty E numbers. I shall add it to my shopping list following your review, Chloe.

I love instant noodles, but I’m always so put off by the salt content! Glad you’ve discovered and shared this great brand with us! Will definitely pick them up whenever I come across them. The best student meal ever by the looks of things! xx

    • March 20, 2017 / 9:38 pm

These are definitely not as salty as the regular! Which is also perfect for me as I don’t like salt ^^ x

  28. March 20, 2017 / 5:32 pm

These look amazing for a cup noodle. I want to try these now xx

    • March 20, 2017 / 9:37 pm

Haha sorry ^^ but yes they do look so good, and taste just as good! x

  29. March 20, 2017 / 8:25 pm

Firstly, I love these photos. Secondly, I think everyone should have cup noodles in their cupboard. They’re a perfect quick and easy snack/meal, though I’m not sure these flavours are for me. I’d spend longer picking out the sweetcorn than I would eating it! But they do look fresher and more appealing than the usual cup noodles available.

    • March 20, 2017 / 9:37 pm

They have 6 different flavors so I’m sure there’s one that would suit you perfectly 😀 x

  30. March 20, 2017 / 8:44 pm

These noodles look amazing and I love the packaging!! I am a huge noodle fan. I really want to try these!

How cute! These pictures really, really show off the product- well done. I’m definitely a sucker for Top Ramen but it’s soooo bad for me, I really try to avoid it! This looks like a PERFECT alternative! Who would ever eat Cup-O-Noodles again?

I’ve never tried this and now I’m interested. I’ve only had the cheap packaged noodles from the grocery store, but I refuse to feed them to my kids because they’re so unhealthy. The problem is my kids ask for them sometimes. Mr. Lees noodles sound like a great alternative that will make the whole family happy! 🙂

I am not that familiar with Mr. Lee, but I was raised by noodles. I often have prepackaged noodles for quick meals as I love to be able to put any meat and vegetables in my noodle pot. I am going to try and look for Mr. Lee in my local grocery store the next time I am there. Can’t wait to try it.

  56. June 28, 2017 / 5:22 pm

I had no idea that there was a cup noodles brand that didn’t contain weird preservatives and chemicals! That’s awesome! And I love that there’s a veggie option, so I can actually try it myself. Cool! Thanks for the tip.
