The sun may have left us prematurely, we are still stuck in summer mode.. We still want to do all the things summer allows us to do, and most of all enjoying a nice picnic outside. As you may have gathered we love food. Any kind. We love going out to restaurants, ordering takeaways, trying new recipes, finding excuses to brunch with friends, organize a barbecue or just enjoy a picnic on the grass. So we thought you might like it if we shared with you what our favourite picnic foods are 🙂
What You Need for the Perfect Picnic
If we love cakes in all shapes or forms, with think that they are better eaten with a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate. So not very picnic appropriate. Our N°1 item on our list while putting a picnic together is fruit. They are yummy, easy to transport and to eat! Here we went for melon, blueberries, strawberries, nectarines, gooseberries & grappes. Obviously the best thing to associate fruit with is yogurt. Here we were in Corinne’s garden to it was easy for us to transport it in a dish, but if you are far from home by individual pots and it will be as easy 🙂
Because we have such a sweet-tooth we had to add a brioche on the list, along with a pot of homemade blackberry jelly (made by Corinne’s mum, so so yummy). We also added a few biscuits: some apricot Lunettes (just because we love biscuits).
As for drinks we went for milk (because it’s the best thing with biscuits & brioche!) & homemade virgin mojitos. To stay on the fresh and fruity side.
Homemade Picnic Virgin Mojitos
- 2 glasses of Lemonade
- 1 lime
- 10 mint leaves
- Crushed ice cubes
This is the most easy cocktail ever: just cut your limes in quartes, place 2 quartes in each glass, add 5 leaves in each glass, the ice and top up with lemonade. Enjoy!
If you don’t like fizzy drinks, mint or limes you might want to try our homemade iced-tea recipe for your next picnic or barbecue!
Do you like going out for a picnic during summer? What is your favorite food?
See you soon, love
