Product Focus: Shadow Switch – Beauty Essentials

Makeup is one of the things we really love in life! If we are not beauty experts or makeup experts, we love to buy makeup and try new trends. We love how you can spend hours just playing around with makeup, and how you can never have enough! So when a few months ago Beauty Essentials sent us an email to ask us if we wanted to try their new product, the Shadow Switch, we obviously said yes! Well in fact Kirsty said yes, as she is the one of us that was the most into makeup at the time.

Beauty Essentials’ Shadow Switch

The product I was kindly sent was their new Shadow Switch, which is a revolutionary beauty tool to dry clean your makeup brushes. When I read this description I was real excited about this! First of all because I’m the laziest person when it comes to cleaning brushes. It takes time, it’s inconvenient and cool gadgets are usually expensive and take up a lot of room. So this was just the perfect tool to add in my makeup collection!

The Product

As you can see the Shadow Switch is small and handy. It comes in a square box that I still use and the tool itself is a round tin with a foam pad inside. What I like about this is that it’s flat and the perfect size. You can clean all your brushes in it, from the small eyeshadow brushes to your powder brushes. Another detail that makes this product perfect is that it’s only £5.99. Yes you read that right: £5.99. Now I have your full attention, keep reading to see how this amazing tool works.

How to use it

Using this is as simple as it looks! You just need to swirl your brushes on the foam pad for a few second and voilà! Your brushes are clean. Even if you have to do one brush at a time, it is the quickest way to clean your brushes. On the plus side your brushes stay dry. So if like me you don’t have a lot of brushes and basically only have one brush for applying your eyeshadow it is perfect because you can apply one colour, clean your brush and use it straight away for your second colour.

It’s also super handy when you are travelling. You don’t need to worry about your wet brushes at the bottom of your makeup bag. Because your brushes won’t ever get wet anymore!

Before and after of my eyeshadow brush, using the Shadow Switch

Take care of your Shadow Switch

The only thing you will still have to wet is your Shadow Switch. When your Shadow Switch is a bit dirty you need to clean it with some warm water and fragrance free soap. Then leave until it is totally dry. You will also have to replace the foam pad after a while and as it will wear off. However to make your pad last longer you can turn it over before washing it, that way you won’t just wear off one side. But as I said, the product only costs £5.99 so I think we can’t complain…

As you may have gathered, I’m totally impressed and fond of this tool! I really recommend it to anyone that uses makeup brushes. It’s handy, easy to use, cheap and it works. I’ve got nothing to add besides: Why haven’t you bought yours yet? I can guarantee you it will become your best friend! You can buy it from Amazon right here. This product would also be the perfect present for a friend!

  11. February 5, 2017 / 8:48 pm

I’ve never heard of this before but it looks amazing! I have a tonne of brushes which I am just so lazy to
clean (especially my eye brushes) so something like this would be great as a quick mid week fix. How long would one pad last roughly?

    • February 5, 2017 / 8:56 pm

I don’t really know, but I’ve been using mine since November and it doesn’t seem worn. However they recommend to change the pad every 2 months, but as I said I use mine on both sides x

  12. February 5, 2017 / 8:49 pm

Such an amazing little invention, especially for me as once I fall in love with a shadow brush I am constantly using it! Will definetely pick one up!

  13. February 5, 2017 / 8:54 pm

I’ve heard so much about this and I am tempted to get it if I am able to find it in a shop as I am trying to stay away from online shopping at the moment.

    • February 5, 2017 / 9:16 pm

As far as I know you can’t find it in store for the moment :/ x

  14. February 5, 2017 / 9:09 pm

I’m dying to try this product, I hate cleaning my brushes and normally just brush shadow off on my dressing gown between shadows, this is definitely something I need to try out soon!

    • February 5, 2017 / 9:12 pm

haha love this! I used to just brush mine on the back of my hand and hope for the best ^^ x

  15. February 6, 2017 / 10:19 pm

I love these types of products! I have one by a different brand, but it makes doing shadow so much easier. I just set it next to me when doing makeup and can reuse a brush without a problem.

  16. February 11, 2017 / 11:36 pm

This looks so handy and so cheap! I have to say when it comes to cleaning and drying make up brushes i’m so bad, I just use hand soap and leave it on the window sill, I should really get something like this, great review 🙂

You should, it really is the best tool! I mean the best tool at the best price 🙂 x
