I read once in Glamour magazine that Nicole Rici’s go-to outfit for a first date was a simple white t-shirt and blue jeans. She said it was the perfect outfit because it was simple and casual, but you could add your personal touch to it with a handbag, jewellery or shoes that represent you without being over the top. If at the time that just flew over my head like a pigeon (I was 13 or something, so dating!?…), now it makes sense, but only in a dating situation. A simple white t-shirt can be styled in so many ways! That’s why today I love it, and think everyone should have one.
Make a White T-shirt Classy
I could have made the same post using a white shirt, however white shirts can quickly look really formal. Too formal. By replacing that white shirt with a white t-shirt you add some edge to your look and your outfit looks more trendy than formal.
For this first look I’ve style my white t-shirt with a bold silver neckless, a black blazer jacket that has a tone on tone zebra print, a black scatter skirt, stripy tights, black trainers, and a red bag. The necklace makes the look a bit more interesting and feminine while the bag adds some colour.
- T-shirt: Gap
- Blazer: Morgan
- Tights: Primark
- Necklace: Coconut Lane (get 20% off with out discount code )
- Bag: Camaïeu
This look would be perfect for the office, a presentation or an interview (you might want to change the tights though and pick a skirt without a bow on it though…). You still look quite formal, but too serious.
Do you have a white t-shirt you like playing around with? What is you favourite look when you need to look a little formal?
See you soon, love
